The first step in joining the Canadaverse is purchasing a Meshtastic device or node. Popular devices are listed in the Hardware section, including: Heltec V3, RAK 4631, T-Beam, T-Lora, T-Deck, and T-Echo.
Ensure your device is compatable with the North American LoRa frequency US915 (902–928 MHz).
WARNING: Operating the device without an antenna can permanently damage the radio.
Do not power on the device until you have connected an antenna.
Flash the device with the latest Meshtastic firmware. The easiest way is using Meshtastic's Flasher, right from your browser.
Install the mobile app for Android or iOS, and follow the instructions to connect to your node.
Configure the node using the following settings:
msh/US to msh/CA/{your province shortcode}. For example, msh/CA/BC or msh/CA/ON. Note, this value is case sensitive.mqtt.mt.gtmeshdevlarge4catsYou should now be able to communicate with users from across the country. More detailed configuration information is available here.
